The 9 Best Gaming Monitors for PS5 in 2024

The 9 Best Gaming Monitors for PS5 in 2024

Although a TV is still the ideal pick for a display output for your PS5, gaming monitors have continued and are still to this day a viable purchase for those who want a smooth and optimal gaming experience.

In this article, I will be going through the 9 Best Gaming Monitors for PS5 in 2024, complete with their prices, links, and every pros and cons you might want to know before clicking the check out button.

What are the benefits of using Gaming Monitors as opposed to a TV for PS5 in 2024?

Big TVs have long been the choice of both casual and hardcore gamers when gaming on a PS5. They provide a larger surface area to see the beautiful visuals of their game and are also equipped with amazing sound systems.

These usually act as a surround sound speaker for breathtaking audio while gaming, but theyโ€™re quickly getting phased out with these flashy high-refresh-rate gaming monitors that are packed to the brim with features. But what are these features anyway that will make you want to switch to a gaming monitor for your PS5 instead?

Game-changing high-refresh-rate smoothness

The most appealing reason as to why you would want to switch to gaming monitors for your PS5 is because of their superior refresh rates compared to an average TV. In 2024, your typical TV would be locked to a measly refresh rate of 30 Hz, while midrange and higher-end models can sometimes go 60 Hz and even 100 Hz.

Gaming monitors, however, have always been equipped with mind-boggling refresh rates of 144 Hz, 240 Hz, and even 360 Hz that can minimize input delay, increase the smoothness of your PS5โ€™s gameplay, and overall make your gaming experience more fun. Since some PS5 titles support “performance modes” that can increase your FPS up to 60 FPS and beyond, you can really make use of a high-refresh-rate monitor to make sure that youโ€™re getting the most out of your console.

Cheaper and more accessible to the casual gamer

Gaming monitors are also cheaper and easier to set up than TVs because of their size. Gaming monitors are becoming more and more common of sight nowadays because of PC gamingโ€™s rise to the mainstream.

And with that also came the plummet of gaming monitorsโ€™ cost, with entry-level gaming monitors costing only around $150 to $180, a far cry from high-refresh-rate TVs that can cost you upwards of $1000. You also wonโ€™t have to find a wall to mount them on or make space as gaming monitors are, of course, smaller and more compact than your average TV.

High resolution galore

Lastly, gaming monitors are also equipped with high-resolution displays that make your gameโ€™s visual pop even more with sharp pictures and vivid colors. The most common resolution of gaming monitors nowadays is 1080p, but some go even further with 1440p and even 4k for an asking price that is reasonable and far more justifiable than a TVโ€™s.

Although TVs are also commonly equipped with a 1080p display, their sheer size makes it hard to appreciate as images can still look pixelated and blurry because of low pixel density. In other words, gaming monitors have high-resolution displays crammed into small sizes while TVs also have high-resolution displays but are fitted into huge displays that can still make your gameโ€™s image quality poor.

The specs and factors to consider when shopping for a gaming monitor for PS5 in 2024

1. Your monitor’s refresh rate

As discussed earlier, refresh rate is one of the vital reasons why you would want to get a gaming monitor for your PS5. But what is this โ€œrefresh rateโ€ anyways and why do I keep mentioning it? In essence, the refresh rate of your display refers to how many times it can draw a new image each second. Hertz (Hz) is the unit of measurement of refresh rates.

If your display has a refresh rate of 144 Hz, for example, the image is refreshed 144 times per second. When combined with the high frame rates provided by your PS5, a smoother experience and higher FPS can be achieved while playing. The higher your monitorโ€™s refresh rate is, the more FPS it can display.

Most gaming monitors nowadays start at 144 Hz which is still enough for the casual gamer to experience true high-refresh-rate gaming, but for competitive players who really want the best of the best, there are 240 Hz and even 360 Hz options that can deliver the smoothest gameplay you will ever experience.

2. The screen resolution

Screen resolution is yet another important spec when looking at a gaming monitorโ€™s specs since a PS5 can now deliver up to native 4K resolution when gaming. While this doesnโ€™t mean that you have to shell out thousands of dollars for a 240 Hz 4K gaming monitor, this also means that you should stay away from sub-1080p monitors which can kill the visuals of your games.

For the monitors I featured in this list, I made sure to test only those that have a resolution of 1080p and above for the best image quality in your games.

3. The display size

Last but not the least, you also have to look at your preferred display size. A typical gaming monitor in 2024 is measured at around 24 inches to 27 inches, but there are some that go up and beyond with 32 inches and even an absurd 49 inches like the Samsung Odyssey G9.

As mentioned, this spec will rely on your preferred size and your tabletopโ€™s space. For the casual gamer, 24 inches is more than enough as it is compact and smaller than your TV but still big enough to be able to enjoy your PS5 games with high-refresh rates and crystal clear image quality.

The 9 Best Gaming Monitors for PS5 in 2024

With this information in mind, we can now look at the 9 Best Gaming Monitors for PS5 in 2024 that I have tried and tested through a span of several weeks. This list will be based on the specs and factors we just discussed, but I will also be mentioning some extra features that these monitors may have up their sleeve that you may want to know.

1. The Price to Performance King: Samsung Odyssey G7

Samsung Odyssey G7

The price to performance king

  • Snappy response times.
  • Immersive screen size.
  • Supports PS5โ€™s 4k resolution feature.
  • Aesthetically pleasing.

Weโ€™ll start off this list with a competitive entry: the Odyssey G7 by Samsung. This monitor boasts a number of quirks that would be the go-to choice for any hardcore gamer. First, it is worth noting that Samsung offers two options for the 240 Hz feature: 27 and 32 inches. There is also a 28-inch model offered with a 4K UHD display and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. I personally tested the 32-inch model as it is similar to my bedroom TV in size where I normally use my PS5.

Pros

  • Snappy response times
  • Immersive screen size
  • Supports PS5โ€™s 4k resolution feature
  • Aesthetically pleasingย
  • 2 screen sizes offered
  • A great monitor for future-proofing

Cons

  • PS5 does not support 240 FPS or 1440p yet

The first thing that I have noticed while using Samsung’s Odyssey G7 is that the response times are very snappy. When I played F1 2021, nailing corners felt very smooth due to how responsive the Odyssey G7 is. It also made me appreciate the game even more due to the vividness of the screen with its support for the 4K resolution feature of the PS5. In addition to this, opting for the 32-inch monitor made me feel like I am actually inside the cockpit of the car due to the immersiveness the Samsung Odyssey G7 offers.

Although the PS5 does not support 240 FPS or 1440p, that does not stop the Samsung Odyssey G7 from being a true contender in this list as itโ€™s a great choice if you value futureproofing. Additionally, if you have a gaming PC, you can maximize this monitorโ€™s 240 Hz feature as it has 2 DisplayPorts that you can use to plug into your PC.

2. The Best 4k Gaming Monitor for PS5: Acer Nitro XV282K

Making this list is the Acer Nitro XV282K. What this monitor boasts the most is its native 4K resolution, a feature that is perfect for the PS5โ€™s 4K support. With regards to its performance, it is surely one of the options you could get if youโ€™re into competitive gaming, as it also has a 144 Hz refresh rate that allows a much smoother experience for games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Acer Nitro XV282K

The best 4k gaming monitor for PS5

  • Native 4k screen resolution.
  • 144 Hz makes it perfect for competitive PS5 titles like CoD.
  • IPS panel makes colors pop and look vivid.

And yes, Iโ€™ve tested this Acer Nitro XV282K monitor while playing Call of Duty. What I have mentioned earlier translated into my experience as turning around felt very fluid and responsive, which allows you to spot opponents much easier as this is further supported by its 4K resolution, allowing an immersive experience as well. The 4K support is further enhanced by the monitorโ€™s IPS panel that outputs a much vivid display, making colors pop so that it would allow full vision of the gameplay.

Pros

  • Native 4k resolution
  • 144 Hz makes it perfect for competitive PS5 titles like CoD
  • IPS panel makes colors pop and look vivid
  • Abundance of ports

Cons

  • Underwhelming features for its price point

One thing I have also noticed with the Acer Nitro XV282K is the abundance of ports. There are 2 Display Ports, 2 HDMI ports, and 4 USB ports. That is a lot for a monitor that would be used for the PS5, so if you want to plug in your phone while enjoying the 4K resolution output of the XV282K, youโ€™re free to do so.

The XV282K starts at around $900. I believe that the features offered in this monitor is quite underwhelming, as there are much more affordable options out there that boast similar features.

3. The Gaming Monitor for Competitive Players: BenQ MOBIUZ EX2510

The BenQ โ€“ the MOBIUZ EX2510 deserves a spot in this list. I do believe that its limitation to support 1080p is an unconventional screen to use with the PS5, however, this monitor should not be underestimated. Although it is a monitor that is originally made for PC gaming, this 25-inch monitor also has something to prove in its usage with current generation consoles.

BenQ MOBIUZ EX2510

The best gaming monitor for competitive players

  • Good image quality.
  • BenQ HDRi technology for an optimized gaming experience.
  • Built-in speakers.

When I tested this monitor with my PS5, I decided to test it by playing another entry in the CoD series, CoD Vanguard. Although the EX2510 has a relatively small screen size for gaming on the PS5, what certainly impressed me was its responsiveness.

In competitive games such as CoD Vanguard, panning the camera and player movement felt really fluid with this monitor supporting up to 120 Hz for the PS5. Additionally, the output also impressed me with its BenQ HDRi technology that further enhances the display, which made me appreciate my gameplay even more, as well as being able to spot projectiles and opponents with convenience.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Good image quality
  • Snappy response timesย
  • Built in speakers

Cons

  • Limited to a relatively small screen size
  • Supports up to only 1080p; cannot maximize the 4K support of the PS5

Now, as mentioned earlier, this monitor supports a resolution of up to 1080p only. In addition to this, the EX2510 is only offered in one size, which is 25 inches. Nevertheless, a monitor that packs an impressive display output and a relatively affordable price of around $399, the EX2510 is a monitor that is worth considering especially if you are into competitive gaming on the PS5.

4. The Best Budget Gaming Monitor: SAMSUNG 24-Inch CRG5

Next entry in this list is another monitor by Samsung, the Samsung 24-Inch CRG5. This monitor is personally one of my favorites on this list, mostly because I opt for the cheapest option and at the same time I would be able to enjoy my purchase. This monitor starts at $200 but based on my experience, youโ€™re actually getting a lot from the Samsung CRG5. For a monitor sitting at this price point, youโ€™re getting a curved display that allows immersive gaming, a 144 Hz refresh rate for snappy response times, and a screen that has a great contrast ratio that allows you to see the little things in your gameplay.

SAMSUNG 24-Inch CRG5

The best budget gaming monitor

  • Very affordable for new players.
  • Curved display for immersive gaming.
  • 144 Hz refresh rate.

Because itโ€™s a curved monitor, I decided to play F1 2021 again for this test. Similar to the Odyssey G7, the curved display feature further promotes immersion into the game, which made me feel like I am actually inside the cockpit of an F1 car.

Nailing corners also felt like a breeze due to the responsiveness this monitor offers. Additionally, its contrast ratio of 3000:1 also made me appreciate my gameplay even more as it allowed me to see the braking zones of the tracks, as well as the opposing drivers.

Pros

  • Very affordable for new players
  • Curved display for immersive gaming
  • Great contrast
  • 144 Hz refresh rate

Cons

  • Small screen sizeย
  • Limited to 1080p; cannot maximize the 4K support of the PS5

This Samsung 24-Inch CRG5 monitor is limited to a 1080p resolution only, which cannot utilize the 4K support of the PS5. The 24-inch screen size may be a limitation to other PS5 users, but if your setup allows a comfortable experience for a small display, the CRG5 is definitely worth considering.

5. The Best 1080p Gaming Monitor: ViewSonic OMNI VX2768-PC-MHD

Entering this list is the ViewSonic OMNI VX2768. Itโ€™s another entry that sports a curved screen, and although the OMNI VX2768 may not seem any different from similar curved monitors in this list, thereโ€™s a lot more to experience with this monitor.

ViewSonic OMNI VX2768-PC-MHD

The Best 1080p Gaming Monitor

  • Curved display for immersive gaming.
  • 165 Hz refresh rate.
  • Aesthetically pleasing display.

First, this 27-inch curved monitor has a refresh rate of 165 Hz. Although the PS5 has a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, I was still able to get a satisfactory experience with the ViewSonic OMNI VX2768. Response times are very snappy, which is a beneficial factor for playing competitive games like the Call of Duty titles.

Pros

  • Curved display for immersive gaming
  • 165 Hz refresh rateย
  • Aesthetically pleasing display
  • Affordable
  • Decent screen size for gaming on the PS5

Cons

  • Limited to 1080p; cannot maximize the 4K support of the PS5

I was also amazed at its display output. Although this monitor has a maximum resolution of 1080p, I noticed that the ViewSonic OMNI VX2768 stood out to me the most among the 1080p monitors in this list as its display output is very detailed and colors looked very vivid to me. Its display output is great for games such as The Last of Us 2 and PS5 as youโ€™ll be able to appreciate the environment and atmosphere of the aforementioned examples.

Currently, the ViewSonic OMNI VX2768 is well priced at below $400. Itโ€™s a relatively affordable monitor, given that its display output is a stand-out, as well as the monitor sporting a curved display to promote an immersive gaming experience. Additionally, if you have a gaming PC, you could plug it in through a DisplayPort to maximize its 165 Hz refresh rate.

6. The Best 1440p Gaming Monitor: MSI QHD Rapid-IPS Quantum DOT Gaming

Up next on this list is the MSI QHD Rapid-IPS Quantum DOT Gaming monitor. This monitor is one of the few on this list that supports a resolution of 1440p. Although the PS5 does not support 1440p in the meantime, Sonyโ€™s CES 2022 presentation reveals VRR support, which can also be assumed that the support for 1440p will be included as well!

MSI QHD Rapid-IPS Quantum DOT Gaming

The Best 1440p Gaming Monitor

  • Really thin bezels.
  • 165 Hz refresh rate.
  • 1440p support for future proofing.

Nevertheless, this entry by MSI still packs a punch with regards to the gaming experience on the PS5. The first thing that impressed me with this monitor is its thin bezels. This feature made me appreciate the environment of games such as Horizon Zero Dawn: Forbidden West and Elden Ring as it made me focus on the gameplay rather than the screen itself.

The colors from the display output are also vibrant, which is also a factor in determining a good display. The design of the monitor is actually easy on the eyes as it sports a simple and sleek design that is overall aesthetically pleasing.

Pros

  • Thin bezels lets you appreciate the displayย
  • 165 Hz refresh rate
  • 1440p support allows future proofing

Cons

  • Quite expensive if gaming on the PS5 is the primary usage
  • Relatively cheap build quality

The MSI QHD Rapid-IPS Quantum DOT Gaming currently sits below $500. As aforementioned, the PS5 does not support QHD yet but is expected to receive an update to support it anytime soon. Regardless of whether the PS5 supports QHD or not, this monitor is still a solid buy as its display output is something that one should not overlook.

7. The Best Midrange Gaming Monitor: Gigabyte G27F-EK

When I first saw this monitor, I had the impression that the G27F-EK is a premium gaming monitor model. The overall monitor shell certainly does not feel cheap and would serve to be a reliable monitor. However, does that โ€˜premium feelโ€™ translate into the gaming experience with the PS5?

Gigabyte G27F-EK

The Best Midrange Gaming Monitor

  • Premium build quality.
  • 144 Hz refresh rate.
  • Great IPS display.

When I first tested this monitor with my PS5, gaming with the Gigabyte G27F-EK does feel fluid enough. Iโ€™ve played various games such as NBA 2K22, F1 2021, and Horizon Forbidden West with this monitor. It is worth noting that because this monitor is limited to a 1080p resolution, I could not maximize the 4K support of the PS5. Despite this, gaming with the G27F-EK was still a good experience because of its 144 Hz refresh rate, allowing for a smooth gaming experience.

In addition, the IPS display in this monitor is also impressive as it makes PS5 games very pleasing to the eyes without compromising output quality. However, I do wish that the G27-EK comes with a decent-sounding pair of speakers. I had to plug in my headphones because the audio output from this monitor is really weak.

Pros

  • Premium build quality
  • 144 Hz refresh rate
  • Decent screen size
  • Great IPS display

Cons

  • Mediocre audio quality
  • Limited to 1080p; cannot maximize the 4K support of the PS5

Overall, the Gigabyte G27-EK is an all-around contender in this list that has a great build quality, high refresh rate, decent screen size, and great display output. At such a relatively low price point, the G27-EK is definitely worth looking into.

8. The Cheapest 4K Gaming Monitor: SAMSUNG 32 inch UJ59

Another monitor by Samsung enters this list! Unlike the other Samsung monitor models mentioned in this list, this one has a flat 32-inch screen that supports 4K resolution. Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed with the UJ59 because I prefer curved screens that reach the 32-inch mark. Although this 4K monitor sits at a very affordable price, there is a downside to this 4K monitor โ€“ it is limited to a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

SAMSUNG 32 inch UJ59

The cheapest 4K gaming monitor

  • 32″ 4K mointor that is affordable.
  • Large screen size of 32″.
  • AMD Freesync refresh rate.

So, Iโ€™ve decided to experience one of the most affordable 4K monitors with the UJ59. First impressions โ€“ the overall design of the monitor is simple and comfortable to play games with the PS5. Frankly, the 60 Hz limit isnโ€™t actually that bad, as the display output is actually vivid and games are well-defined.

Pros

  • Very affordable for a 4K monitor
  • Large screen size
  • Good display output

Cons

  • Limited to 60 Hz refresh rate

It also certainly takes time to get used to the 60 Hz refresh rate of this monitor. For competitive games like the Call of Duty titles, you wonโ€™t get as much responsiveness as the aforementioned monitors in this list with a refresh rate of at least 144 Hz. Instead, casual gaming is recommended if you intend to game on the Samsung UJ59.

Is the 60 Hz refresh rate a deal-breaker? That depends on what you are looking for in a monitor. But at such an affordable price point, youโ€™re getting a 32-inch monitor that supports 4K resolution – that to me, is a no brainer deal.

9. The Best High-End Gaming Monitor: AORUS FV43U 43″

Weโ€™re finishing off this list with another entry by Gigabyte โ€“ the AORUS FV43U. At first, I actually thought the AORUS FV43U was a TV, as its massive 43-inch display can compete with our living room TV. As expected from a very premium gaming monitor, a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a resolution of 4K come standard with this contender.

AORUS FV43U 43″

The best high-end gaming monitor

  • 4k screen resolution.
  • TV-like screen size.
  • 144 Hz refresh rate, High Bit Rate 3 Support.

Because it boasts a 43-inch display, my initial thought was that this monitor is the perfect monitor to use with the PS5. Indeed, testing the Aorus FV43U was significantly different from the rest of the competition as the huge display made me feel truly immersed during my gameplay tests.

Pros

  • TV-like screen size
  • Very responsive
  • 4K resolution
  • Great display output

Cons

  • Can be considered to be quite pricey for a monitor

Iโ€™ve tested games like F1 2021, Gran Turismo 7 and NBA 2K22 on it, and all of which feel like I am watching real-time sports from a sports TV channel.

Apart from the 43-inch display, there is nothing much to say about the Aorus FV43U as itโ€™s overall very pleasing to the eye with a fluid refresh rate and a very defined screen resolution. No more major complaints from me.

However, packing all of these great features into one monitor also creates quite a high starting price for most people. With that being said though, gaming on this monitor with the PS5 is such an experience and the premium quality build and the immersive gaming experience the Aorus FV43U provides are the reasons this mointor earns the title as the best high-end gaming monitor.
