12 Best Roblox Zombie Games Keeping You On Your Toes

Despite the seemingly endless parade of fright night flicks, and vast onslaught of genres that aim to terrify, if you think about it there are only really three classic horror characters – the monster (think Frankenstein), the vampire (think Dracula) and the zombie (think Roblox). Roblox?!

That’s right – to George Romer’s original Night of the Living Dead, to the contemporary Word War Z and to that bingeworthy television masterpiece The Walking Dead, you can now add such Roblox classics as Zombie Strike, Rise of the Dead and Field Trip Z. It’s no surprise that we think about what we would do if a zombie apocalypse were to happen in our lifetime.

Fortunately, through the numerous Roblox games below have given us the chance to turn these fantasies into a reality. Roblox is very much amongst the undead with these 12 amazing zombie games.

1. Rise of the Dead by @MXKhronos

Rise of the Dead is an immersive campaign-based zombie game in Roblox. Reminiscent of State of Decay 2, your goal is to rescue survivors and induct them into your survival community, recruiting them for quests which you reckon will need more firepower. 

You start off in a Safe House where a community of survivors help you get started through various quests. The Safe House is home to the various NPCs which can help you along your journey. Additionally, rescued survivors will join your posse and potentially grant you access to buy or upgrade limited items.

Apart from the ability to mod your guns with all the doodads you’ve attained from quests or random drops, the game’s main selling point is its integration of co-op missions. Some missions will require the help of your friends or kind strangers to clear the bigger hordes of zombies and eliminate the frightening zombie bosses.

Now go and unlock blueprints for flashier guns, escort survivors and defend your safe house from massive hordes!

2. Zombie Blitz by PANDEMIC.

Zombie Blitz is an endless zombie-shooter which hooked me in immediately. Unlike other zombie-shooters, you have an objective of protecting your power core – essentially adding a tower defence aspect to this game. 

Every bullet that strikes a zombie grants you money and experience points, which you will need for purchasing bigger and better guns. Of course, it’s always good to have an experienced player in your game as you start off with only a measly pistol. 

Expectedly, cooler guns are only purchasable at certain levels so prepare to earn your stripes and grind to a higher level. Upgrading your base’s shields or even adding an automated turret can aid the team in the more hellish rounds. I do enjoy the progression the game has as I find myself grinding for hours just to unlock the advanced weapons. 

Alternatively, you may try the game’s co-op story mode which offers 6 parts for you and your friends to unravel the story behind the zombie outbreak in the Zombie Blitz’ universe.

3. Recoil Zombies by Bad Skeleton

My first impression of Recoil Zombies was that the visuals were terrifyingly beautiful. You’d be surprised that it’s a game on the Roblox platform and not a Call of Duty: Zombies replica. A far cry from your usual rectilinear environment, the character model and dynamic lighting is as realistic as Roblox can get!

It’s another endless zombie-shooter but with the option to choose different classes like medic, marksmen or tank. Each class gives you a set of expertise and guns. Though, be wary of your ammunition management as it will be tough refilling the ammo of your specially assigned guns. 

The various maps offer different areas for you to unlock as well, giving you the chance to discover more escape routes or access to more heavy-duty guns for purchase. Be prepared to search high and low for crowd controlling weapons like bazookas and grenade launchers as they are essential later into the game.

Recoil Zombies is basically Lazarus Project on steroids, so don’t be left out and experience this game for yourself!

4. Zombie Uprising by The Real U.S.S.F

Previously mentioned in my list of 12 Epic Survival Games, Zombie Uprising offers an endless zombie-shooter to players who like to grind levels and customise their weapons with mods and skins.

Though the premise is a desolate environment like an abandoned warehouse or factory, the game itself is stress-free as getting killed does not give you any penalty, rather lets you respawn in the next round once your teammates clear the current wave.

The guns in the game are the main selling point as they are weighty and have recoil patterns that you should be wary of when spraying tankier zombies. On the topic of tankier zombies, you will also encounter bosses which will require exceptional teamwork to kill. You will be rewarded with extra exp and cash to tide you over the next few rounds.

There’s much more to the game such as crate drops, weapon upgraders and monthly events that will keep you hooked which is why it’s worthy of another mention in this list. 

5. Apocalypse Rising by @Gusmanak

Apocalypse Rising provides an open-world experience in the zombie game genre, though zombies are just a small part of your worries. The players in the game can be unforgiving so always trust no one in this dog-eat-dog world! 

Start off by selecting your perk such as increased stamina or survivalist, reducing the issue of fatigue or lack of food and water. As the spawn is random, you might want to search for a map first so that you can locate your friends. Otherwise, rely on the sun and landmarks to regroup with your team. 

Once you’re geared up, you should be well-equipped enough to venture into the dense cities or military bases for better loot – though you should expect to face other powerful players or teams! 

Another special feature is the base-building which is essential for you team’s storage needs. Expectedly, raids are very common, so preparedness is paramount. Never think twice and always shoot on sight!

6. Zombie Tag by The Gang Stockholm

Zombie Tag is basically what you’d expect, get tagged and you turn infected! Depending on the game mode, you either must run and/or hide from the infected zombies (or end up turning into one) or collecting the required items to escape via the helicopter.

At every round start, a random player will be chosen as the zombie who will be tasked to catch the other players and increase his zombie army. Run around the numerous vibrant maps as a survivor or hide in the nooks and crannies and hope that the zombies do not spot you. 

If you unfortunately get caught and infected, you will have an ability to leap forward, covering a considerable distance between you and your target who is running for his life. The term ‘zombie horde’ now makes extra sense as working together as a horde makes it much more difficult for the uninfected to escape.

7. Zombie Strike by Good Ape

Zombie Strike is another campaign-based shooter where you employ your friends or other players to complete missions and level up. Having higher levels will give you access to more difficult missions, of course rewarding you appropriately with exp and cash – sometimes even special loot!

The game itself is balanced as each level group has its own set of missions to complete. During the missions, you might be lucky enough to find perks which can give you special abilities like dual wielding which transforms your play style completely.

At every mission’s end, you will encounter a boss which has special abilities. It deals an insane amount of damage so be sure to react to the quick-time events. Alternatively, you could play the endless wave mode to grind levels and caps (the in-game currency). Spend your caps in the lobby’s various shops and upgrade your weapons for the next mission. 

With daily quests and tons of guns and skins to unlock, I wouldn’t be surprised if you become a regular in the community of Zombie Strikers!

8. The Apocalypse by Builder’s Block

The objective is to survive as long as you can, or at least until the sun comes up at 7AM which thus ends the round. The Apocalypse requires humans to remain alive and avoid being infected, otherwise you will have to join the undead and eat the brains of your former teammates! 

Finding food and weapons is a given as no one would survive without these essentials. The rounds start off slow with just a few zombies to fend off – these zombies are usually easily killed with a crowbar blow to the head or barricading any entrances in your vicinity. Though, it gets more intense deeper into the night as infected players get to choose different zombie types – walker, crawler or dynamite.

I cannot emphasise anymore how important light is in this game! The map gets very dark so finding flashlights or enabling the generators usually found in precarious areas of the maps will help illuminate the potential hazards. Players who have become infected will cunningly lurk in dark corners, waiting to pounce on any unsuspecting players. 

9. Dead Slate by @fearlesswee

One thing’s for sure, this list isn’t lacking in first-person zombie shooters. Do not be fooled by the seemingly-short 5-minute round durations as Dead Slate’s zombie hordes are unrelentless and the special zombie types test your ability to evade and shoot zombies in the head. 

After a player is infected, you will join the infected team and bring hell to the survivors. You will cycle through the several special zombie types, giving you a chance to use their different abilities. There are different play styles for each zombie, such as cornering survivors with the Boiler zombie to knock-out a group at one go by detonating yourself into guts and bile. 

The survivors will be disadvantaged when their teammates get killed, as more and more players will spawn into the game as zombies and lower your chances of surviving the round. 

This is one of the more difficult games in this list to play as a survivor. Familiarise yourself with the different zombie types and their abilities and you will prevail!

10. Dread by @BakonBot

A fast-paced zombie shooter game with the choice between the survivor or zombie team, Dread’s 5-minute rounds across its various game modes are exhilarating and intense.

Each game mode has its own set of objectives, like Assassination giving the survivors the task of protecting the randomly selected VIP. The zombie team’s objectives are usually simpler and more expected – to kill the survivors and devour their brains! 

The survivor team will usually fair better by sticking together, but the unique zombie types will change the team’s formidable formation. Zombies like the jetpack zombies will explode upon impact so sticking together is not an option!

Winning a game will reward you with a bunch of exp and in-game cash for you to purchase better guns and ammunition in the shop. Game modes like Juggernaut will require someone in your team to equip armour-piercing guns like a Mauser rifle or rocket-propelled grenade launchers. 

Dread is one of my favourites in the list, with the most visually appealing maps and dozens of game mode offerings to master.

11. Reason 2 Die by Reason 2 Die Community

Reason 2 Die is a campaign-based zombie game which revolves around surviving the onslaught of zombie hordes. What’s special is the choice to play as survivors or zombies, both sides requiring plenty of skill and strategy to overcome the opposing team. 

The survivors have the simple task of eradicating the zombies, with the added challenge of accomplishing the mission on hand. Campaigns range from finding gas cannisters to fill up a vehicle to drive to safety or protecting the president from getting killed until the helicopter arrives to save you.

Playing on the zombie team grants you more play styles, with different zombies to choose every instance you respawn; each zombie having its own unique ability. The zombies also have perks and evolutions with every level gained such as increasing your health, speed or damage. 

It’s hard for me to choose which team is my favourite to play on as they both offer a lot of excitement, though many enjoy evolving their zombies to give the survivor team a run for their money. 

12. Field Trip Z by Splitting Point Studios

When you think zombie games, it’s usually an intense and heart-pounding experience. The opposite is true for Field Trip Z, where this story-based experience offers whimsical graphics and light-hearted fun. The well-made cut scenes and diverging storyline keeps you engrossed to play till the end.

As the game’s name suggests, you and a bunch of other players start the day off in school, going through the motions of an average student – of course with the zombie apocalypse unravelling through the school day. Spend whatever time you have between classes to find items in the lockers as they can help you later in the game.

I like that you get to make choices as a class, with the majority vote determining your next course of action. The choice of going back to help a survivor or choosing to leave him behind will have its own set of consequences. With many different Roblox’s familiar game types like obby and stealth spread throughout the storyline, there is a little bit of everything for every player.
